The Story of Cooks & Company

Founded in the 1970s, Cooks & Company launched as a hardware and joinery manufacturing business. During the 1980s our Managing Director, Peter Cook, took the decision to venture into handmade kitchen furniture. As kitchens evolved to be bigger, more open-plan, multi-functional rooms, the demand for our furniture grew and Cooks & Company took on a new facet.

In addition to cabinetry, a focal point of any luxury kitchen are the appliances. We have now established ourselves as the UK’s largest premium appliance retailer. Our 20,000 sq. ft showroom based in Newark, Nottinghamshire, has a dedicated kitchen and interiors showroom and a separate appliance showroom showcasing over 40 brands.

From classic and traditional designs, to modern and contemporary aesthetics, our showroom provides a comprehensive view of the possibilities that are tailored to our client's individual tastes and preferences.

Visiting Us

Situated in the busy market town of Newark-on-Trent, our showroom is strategically located at the crossroads of the A1 and A46, easily accessible from all cardinal directions. For those arriving by train, we offer complimentary pick-up from both Newark Northgate and Newark Castlegate train station.

We take pride in our customer-centric approach, ensuring a welcoming environment for families with a dedicated children's area, allowing parents to focus on their design process. Our commitment extends to being a pet-friendly establishment, ensuring no one is left out. Our timeline

After over fifty years in operation, our family-run business has evolved to become a trusted industry leader, combining heritage with modern expertise.

New Beginnings

Cooks & Company was founded by our current MD's Father Ronald Cook creating beautiful handcrafted furniture.

1973

Fitted Kitchens

The company ventured into the fitted kitchen industry with multiple bespoke projects and successful installations.

1979

The First Showroom

Peter Cook, our current MD, joined his father to drive it forward and opened their first Kitchen and Bathroom showroom.

1982

Appliance centre is born

Peter founded another business, Appliance Centre Ltd, a showroom-based and online kitchen appliance retailer.

1997

Exclusive partnerships

Cooks and Company began partnering with exclusive appliance manufacturers. Huge renovations began to accommodate live cooking demonstration areas through out the brand new 20,000 sq.ft showroom.

2004

National Launch

Launch of the national exhibition show, working alongside Grand Designs & The Ideal Home Show to promote the brand and reach a larger target audience. This episode is still running on television.

2010

The next generation

Joseph Cook, now the 3rd generation, of the family joined the business.

2012

Alfresco dining

Leaving the comforts of the home, alfresco dining becomes the next venture as we partnered with the world renowned Big Green Egg company to target outdoor living and cooking. Since then, we have taken on many more premium outdoor cooking brands.

2017

Showroom extension

More expansion with a brand-new kitchen showroom being built at Cook House. Partnering with the handcrafted British excellence of Charles Yorke and leading German design house, Bauformat.

2021

A new dawn

The opening of the UKs most impressive kitchen and appliance showroom.

2022

Anniversary year

Cooks & Company proudly celebrates its 50th anniversary and ventures further in luxury German kitchen design by connecting with Eggersman.

Sustainability

An environmental approach

Embracing responsible practices, we exclusively use FSC certified materials, ensuring that our products contribute to the preservation of forests and biodiversity. Our dedication extends beyond the products themselves; our buildings and warehouses are equipped with solar panels, harnessing clean energy to minimize our environmental footprint. In the manufacturing process, an innovative approach has been implemented whereby swarf and wood offcuts are burned to generate heat for the factory, creating a self-sustaining energy cycle.

Additionally, in a conscious effort to reduce paper consumption, we offer a free digital brochure download, emphasising our commitment to a paperless, eco-friendly approach. At Cooks & Company, sustainability is not just a practice but a philosophy embedded in every facet of our operations.

At Cooks & Company, we recognise the unique nature of each kitchen project, and our approach to the process reflects this individuality. Our designers engage with clients to grasp the specific requirements of each project. Following this, we proceed to conceptualise an ideal design, and only when the client is entirely satisfied do we initiate the manufacturing phase. With a hands-on approach, we manage every aspect of the project, ensuring a seamless and stress-free installation experience.

Chris, our senior designer, diligently oversees each project, maintaining an on-site presence to facilitate a seamless transition from a client's existing kitchen to the new one. Our design team, fostering strong client relationships, provides continuous support and an open communication channel throughout both the design and installation stages. Employing advanced skills, our designers generate visual representations of the space during the design phase, utilising digital 3D models to offer clients a comprehensive view, empowering them to envision the transformation of their existing space.

As a nationwide business, our operations extend across the entire country, allowing us to serve and meet the diverse needs of clients from coast to coast. With a broad geographical reach, we take pride in our ability to provide consistent and quality services to customers regardless of their location.
