The Brief

A young and growing family situated on the outskirts of town desired a space that seamlessly merged traditional styling with modern functionality to accommodate their evolving family needs. The brief outlined a need for ample storage, comfortable seating arrangements, and a design that exuded warmth and timelessness. Additionally, there is the importance of incorporating bespoke elements that reflect personal tastes and lifestyle, such as a dresser unit with an undercounter wine cooler and upholstered booth seating.

The aesthetic direction was rooted in classic design principles, with a preference for an in-frame, Florentine door profile for the cabinetry. The kitchen island was to be a focal point, featuring a Shaws Belfast, apron-fronted sink and painted in Farrow and Ball’s bold ‘Stiffkey’ Blue hue, contrasting elegantly with the neutral ‘Pointing’ cabinetry throughout the rest of the space. To add subtle yet distinctive character, a single quirk detail was added to the door frame, enhancing the overall charm of the design. It is essential that the materials and finishes selected not only embody a sense of sophistication but also offered practicality and durability for a family-centric environment.
